Despite our encouragement to the kids to go for a walk when we first arrived, they outvoted Jen and I and wanted to get straight into the water...Alexia and Connor headed in first ~
OOOHHH....It's COLD!!! |
Even Megan made it into the water for a few moments...I love this picture of her!! |
Well, I guess watching all that action caused the kids to work up an appetite, so we decided to get out of the water for a snack!
After their snack, the kids ran around on their own for a bit, which allowed Jen and I to catch about 10 minutes to chat (hey, we'll take what we can get these days!)
We then walked down to feed the ducks, but they sadly weren't very interested in our stale bread...So, while Connor (you can see him in the distance) kept trying to call the ducks over, the other kiddos began to investigate what other interesting creatures they could find along the bank of the creek! We did see something that looked similar to a caterpillar, but neither Jen nor I could decide for sure if it was one!
Of course, we walked across the infamous Swinging Bridge and each of us stopped for a quick snapshot...
And, finally, before heading out, we stopped at the tennis courts to do some bike riding...
The kids (and the mom's) definitely worked up a sweat with all of the fun activity, so...depite the fact that we had reached "nap/rest time"...we decided to make a quick stop at Maggies for a yummy frozen treat!
They each devoured their frozen ice within minutes! It was a very refreshing treat...and the kids were focused, for sure!
After the kids had eaten and slirpped up all their frozen ice...Emmy layed down on one of the benches and Alexia began playing "Mommy" ~ despite how adorable this was...Jen and I agreed it was time to head home! The kids had a great day together, as did us Moms!
Tonight while tucking Alexia in bed, she smiled and said she wanted to tell me something...When I asked what she wanted to say, she said that she was really happy that we didn't have to have "rush attitudes" today and that she had so much fun and it was a very relaxing day! Oh, out of the mouths of babes!
Thank you, Alexia, for the reminder of how nice it is to slow down, play and hang-out with friends, without "rush attitudes." :) You have wisdom beyond a 6 year old, for sure!!
