We have grown to love our small group so much and decided that it would be great for us to do an "Outflow Project" together.
Our outflow project involved blessing our local fire department with handmade cards from all of the kiddos in our small group and some baked goods from each family.
Alexia was so excited about this project, which we did this past Tuesday. When we arrived home that day from school/work, I mentioned to Alexia that I needed to get the table set up for the kids to be able to work on their cards. Before I could get started with the preparations, I got distracted with a phone call.
When I got off of the phone, I found Alexia in the dining room getting everything ready...
She made sure each kid had a place to sit (with a namecard at their seat), cardstock, stickers, stamps & markers...every detail was covered...remind you of anyone you know???
As everyone arrived, she showed each kid to their respective seats and the creativity began!
Each one of them worked so hard on their card and did a great job! Here is each kiddo proudly showing off their creation...:)

After they finished their cards, they had worked up quite an appetite, and we all had some pizza together.
Then, it was off to the Fire Department!!
The Fire Department was actually holding a training that evening, so many of the volunteer fire fighters were there, which was awesome. Our Small Group leader shared a few words of thanks and appreciation to the fire fighters and then the kids made their presentations...it was such a neat experience for everyone involved!
After the kids presented their cards to the fire dept volunteers, one of the men went and got fire hats for all of the kids...they LOVED them.
Then, just as we were about to head out...the guys asked us if we wanted to let the kids see the fire trucks...as if that was even a question...lol....again, the kids were so excited!
Alexia...of course, in a snapshot with friends at all times!

It was a great night and a great opportunity to help our kids understand (and remind ourselves as well) of how thankful we should be to have so many public servants who are committed to our safety, care and wellbeing. It was a simple gesture to say "Thank You", but will hopefully have a lasting impression and impact of all those who were involved!
A gret lesson for all ;-)
