For the girls' birthdays this year, they have both picked out new bikes from Toys R Us, however we've not purchased them yet because Daddy told Alexia that in order for her to get a new bike...she had to learn how to ride her current bike...WITHOUT training wheels.
We attempted this last summer, with little success. However, like most things with kids...I knew once she decided she was "ready," she would be able to pick it up without a problem and that is exactly what she did tonight.
She was very focused at first...
Then started to gain some confidence along the way...
Before we knew it...she was racing back and forth in front of the house...
And even learned how to make turns and how to stop/break without having to jump off of the bike..
There were, of course, a few falls, bumps, and tears along the way...but I was very proud of her because each time she fell, she pulled herself together, got back on the bike and was determined to "get it." She was on that bike for about 2 hours all together and pretty much had the basics mastered by the time we headed in for dinner.
After a yummy dinner cooked by Daddy (which in my mind is the best kind of dinner), he suggested that we go to Maggies to celebrate this major milestone!
I guess the girls and I will be making a trip to Toys R Us tomorrow after work so that we can all head to the park tomorrow night with some new bikes :)
Way to Go, Alexia! We're very proud of you!!
Thats our girl;-) Good Job Alexia! That ice cream cone sure looked yummy....
